Fire Department

Welcome to the Leslie Fire Department

The fire department was formed in 1854 with what I am sure were some of the most dedicated men and women of its time. I proudly say that this is still true today. We are very fortunate to be able to serve this great community and we do it with 25 very dedicated men and women. The Leslie Fire Department is a volunteer paid on call department. The department started in the building which now houses the City offices, in the seventies a new facility was built where the Police station is now. In 2003 we were blessed by the voters of the City & Township with a new and modern facility located on the corner of Oak & Kirby Streets.

The Department has two engines (pumpers), one tanker, one ladder truck (quint), one rescue truck, two grass fire truck and a utility truck. We are also very fortunate to still have our original hand drawn hose cart and our first fire truck a 1916 Model T.

The members of the Leslie Fire Department meet two times a month for training and business meetings, we host the Easter Egg Hunt, and hold fire prevention classes for the schools and the public. The Leslie Fire Department also is affiliated with the Ingham County CERT (Certified Emergency Response Team) and has a Leslie Fire Corp. These teams are organized to assist the fire department on fire scenes and if a disaster were to strike. The CERT team is available for all of Ingham County and the Fire Corp is available for the Leslie Fire Department. If you are interested in joining the department , one of the organized groups or would just like to volunteer your services please feel free to contact us.
